Good Marketing captures “Market share” but the Great Marketing captures the “Mind share”.

“Market share” is physical whereas Mind share is spiritual . It is easy to replace the Market share but replacing the “Mind share” is really difficult .

What generally Marketing is considered as an advertisement or communication to showcase one’s good points or features or achievements, but that way of doing Marketing is superficial and kind of naive.

At profound level Marketing is communication or advertisement at the surface with the aim to position solutions to problems of target audiences.

So the great Marketing is a Problem solving communication with the target audiences with the aim at making a difference.

Brand is the by product of great Marketing which not just touches at surface level but at the very core level or at the Mind level.

Great Marketing doesn’t look like Marketing at all as it is the right positioning of solutions with problems of the target audiences.

Great Marketing is more about understanding people than products and aims at making a difference to people’s life.

For Example :

Apple , Coca-Cola, Levis, Nike, Google, etc are the Brand which all are the by product of Great Marketing.

These Brands are not only at Market level but at Mind level. The recall value of these Brands are so strong that one starts making these Brands as synonymous to the products .

For example for Shoes ,the first name that comes to mind is Nike, similarly for Jeans , first name that comes to mind is Levis, similarly for computer and phone , first name that comes to mind is Apple.

The aim of Marketing is to reduce the need for selling and that is called Branding which happens through acquiring the Mind share .

Selling is the subset of Marketing , Great Marketing generates sales without making great effort for selling . Because Marketing is Pull activity and Selling is Push activity in any business.

Great Marketing position the solution such a way that it pulls the target audiences towards the solution.

Great Marketing generates more demand for solution simply because great Marketing believes in making a difference.

Marketing is said to be successful when it is able to create a point where the demand of solution is more than the supply. That’s where a Brand is created.
