Bhagavad Gita(Song of Bhagwan) is like a software which can change a common man to GodMan. The Software is installed in disciple by the grace of Guru or Bhagwan.
In this post I will try to highlight the essence of Bhagavad Gita(Song of God) which is stated from the highest state of Self Awareness (or God Awareness).
Lord Krishna (Enlightened Consciousness ) who is helping Arjuna(earnest Seeker) to reach to the highest state of Self Awareness through Gita Gyana. Bhagavad Gita is the liberating wisdom which once realised and imbibed can liberate you from the bondage of fear and greed and gives you the ultimate bliss and peace within….
Let’s talk the main Crux of Bhagavad Gita (Liberating wisdom).
“कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भुर्मा ते संगोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥”
When Krishna said Arjuna ” Work without getting attached to the Results as action is in your control not the results or fruits of action ” , Arjuna exclaimed with doubtful expression ” can anyone work without expectations or attachment to Results ?.
To which Krishna answered ” Yes, it is possible but at the highest state of Self Awareness, such Karma is also called as Nishkaam karma”.It is possible to work without expectations or attachment to Results only when one is fulfilled from within. Only fulfilled mind can work without expectations or attachment to Results. An unfulfilled mind can’t work without expectations or attachment to Results.
The goal of life is to attain the fulfilment or Freedom (or Moksha) but to attain the goal, there is process or path which is explained by Krishna.
There are 3 stages of human consciousness or Awareness.
1)Naive , 2)Devotee ,3) Enlightened state.
Naive works with expectations, such work is also called as “Sakam Karma”, a devotee works with devotion, such work is also called as “Bhakti” , and the enlightened one works with Satisfaction, such work is also called as “Nishkama karma”.
For consciousness below enlightened level, the mind always wants to cling over something to get fulfilled but nothing can get mind the eternal fulfilment because mind seeks eternal fulfilment in the material world and the nature of material is changeful so it can’t give eternal fulfilment. Before one reaches to the highest state of consciousness or satisfaction ,one has to work with devotion.
That’s where Krishna tells Arjuna the secret of secrets to attain the ultimate Yoga(union) with the source. Krishna tells Arjuna ” Leave the results of your actions on me and perform your action with devotion to me, in this way your mind gets stability in me above results(Success or Failures). And with devotion, practice(Sadhana) and gyana ,you can attain me(your highest Self).
Here Krishna is speaking from the highest state of Self Awareness free from duality, so when he says “I or me” ,it is not Ego(limited to body and mind) but the universal consciousness which expresses through every names and forms at different levels of awareness.
The same universal consciousness is expressing through Krishna form and through Arjuna form but the only difference is ,in Krishna the realisation has happened but in Arjuna ,the realisation is yet to be happened.
“सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज | अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः।”
For this purpose, Krishna tells Arjuna to work with devotion to me (the highest Self ) , when mind is established in the highest Self , mind gets stability in the material world and through Karma (or sadhana) and Gyana(Divine knowledge), one can attain the highest state of Self awareness thereby Freedom and Fulfilment within.Only through Self Awareness, one can attain completeness within. Once realisation happens, one is completely fulfilled from within, thereafter one doesn’t work for completeness outside but from the completeness within.
A self realised being works without expectations or attachment to Material fruits. Now the question arises in Seeker’s mind after realisation happens, what is the purpose of work. Such work doesn’t have self centred purpose, such work is beyond selfish intension and is “Nishkaam karma”.
For Example: Krishna was not working for any selfish intention but with compassion for every living beings even for Duryodhana, as he knew that it is Duryodhana’s awareness level which is the cause of egocentric behaviour of Duryodhana. And just like when a doctor operates a patient with pure intention to help the patient cured ,in the same way, an enlightened being works with pure intention to cure egoistic person by crushing the Ego so that the person can see beyond Ego. It is only by God grace, a person encounters with an enlightened being (Spiritual doctor) .
“अहिंसा परमो धर्मः धर्म हिंसा तथैव च:।”
Here the Shloka “:अहिंसा परमो धर्मः धर्म हिंसा तथैव च:।” is applicable for an enlightened being. The shloka says ” Non-violence is the highest Dharma, and to establish Dharma, even violence at physical level is along with Dharma provided the intention is pure or Non-violent intention from within”. Just like doctor’s case ,a doctor operates patient which seems violence at physical level but from within, the intention of doctor is pure and that is to cure the patient. So the doctor operates with non-violent intention.Same is the case of a self realised being who is spiritual doctor who works with non-violent intention to help seekers in their journey to Freedom and Fulfilment.
One who plays without expectations or attachment to Material fruits or Results is Invincible and that’s the reason Duryodhana couldn’t defeat Arjuna inspite of great warriors like Bhismapitamaha, Dronacharya and Karna were with him. It’s because Arjuna was devoted to Krishna and Krishna was along Dharma and not playing to win ,but to cure Duryodhana.
Krishna (Enlightened consciousness) is the goal and the source beyond winning and losing. So no matter whoever is with Krishna or against Krishna, Krishna(Spiritual doctor) cures everyone with different modes of treatment and pure intention.
Perfection is the end of Expectations, out of Self realisation.
PS:Perfection is the end of expectations and Perfection is attained through Self realisation.
